Five Ways to Fight The Pandemic Blues.

1 – STAY ACTIVE

Many people experience feeling down these days and this feeling could cause lack of motivation to stay active. But the poison is the cure! I mean although you might not feel like doing it, but once you start the activity, it will make you feel better.

You don’t have to go a gym or start lifting weights, although that would be amazing, but even a simple 15 to 20 minutes of stretching exercises or walking can do wonders for your mood and body.

Bring up Youtube and work out along a recorded video. It doesn’t have to be a serious workout, just get loose, get even silly. Bring the whole family together and search Just Dance and move to the beat along with the steps.

If you have a busy work schedule, incorporate 10 minutes sessions into your day. The trick here is to know what exercises you will be going, then set up your alarm for 10-15 minutes in the morning and 10-15 minutes in the afternoon and go over your exercises once or twice in each session.

2 – GET ENOUGH SLEEP

Create a bedtime routine and go to bed roughly the same time most night of the week.

I fall asleep pretty easy at nights and many people ask me how it is possible, in a later post I will share with you some of the routines I developed during the years..

3 – GET DRESSED

Might sound strange, but our clothes and outfit choices affect our mental state. Spending your days in your PJs might sound great and it definitely is, when it’s once in a while, but don’t let it become a habit. When you spend a few minutes making yourself presentable, it tells your mind that you are loved, precious, and worthy of attention. You are the main person who has to show yourself some love. You don’t have to go all tuxedos and party dresses! choose clothes with natural organic fabrics, loose flowy styles, brush your hair, put some perfume on, maybe a bit of makeup, put on some accessories and don’t forget: Choose happy colors, whatever happiness means to you.

4 – GET IN TOUCH WITH NATURE

If weather permits and you have access to a yard, start gardening. Plant seeds and watch them grow. If you live in an apartment or if gardening is not your thing, then bring in a potted plant, there are plenty of easy to care ones out there. Get outside, grab a coffee and go to a trail for a morning walk.

If you are like me and love animals, then how about spreading some seeds for the birds in your yard or someplace close to your home. The Dollar store has seed bags for a few bucks. There is that feeling of giving back to the earth and environment that leaves our souls happy and satisfied.

*But please be mindful of what animals you attract around your home and what you are feeding them!

5 – RELAX & CHILL

Relaxation is not a crime, It is needed. Many people these days are always on the go, under stress, too many todo lists and too little time. Many people think spending an afternoon doing nothing is time wasted. It IS, If you are spending all afternoons everyday doing nothing, staring at the magic box and eating popcorns, but every now and then, think of it as a recharge break.

If you are like me and don’t like “doing nothing”, then I suggest doing a low key enjoyable thing during your downtime; maybe take a bath while listening to a podcast, audio book or a music. Maybe pour yourself a cup of tea, snuggle under a blanket and read a book. Grab a face mask, put it on, lay down and call a friend.

Remember: you are doing this because it helps you in your career, relationships and all other aspects of life.
